Position: Reservationist
Remuneration: R15000.00 with commission of R15 R20 per bed night confirmed per month (Negotiable dependent on experience. Commission is about R3000 R4000 p/month depending on occupancy)
Start date: As soon as possible / May 2025
Details of Position
- The reservationist will report directly to the reservations manager. When reservations manager is off/on leave they will report directly to the owners.
- Work from home position from 08h00 am 17h00 pm Monday Friday (plus standby on weekends).
- Emails to be checked for any urgent matters on Saturday mornings between 08h00 am 12h00 pm plus telephone standby every alternating weekend.
- Candidate must have their own stable WiFi Fibre or internet connection at home as well as good cell phone reception (Vodacom).
- Backup power options (UPS or inverter) is a bonus but not essential if a plan can be made to work during power interruptions. It will be the candidate s responsibility to ensure they are online and connected during working hours.
- Candidate must preferably be based in Johannesburg but not essential.
- Must be passionate about the safari and hospitality industry.

Role & Responsibilities
- Manage reservations and capturing bookings accurately on a daily basis
- Answering the telephone on a daily basis and standby over alternating weekends
- Responding to enquiries on email and WhatsApp
- Daily follow ups on provisional bookings payments and booking details
- Some monthly and weekly reporting (and assisting with reporting when reservations manager is off/on leave)
- Ensuring all guest agent and booking details are captured accurately to ensure effective and accurate guest profiling and reservations data for analysis
- Responding to guests and agents timeously and courteously regarding bookings and various other requests
- Handling guest requests and liaising with the lodge team on a daily basis to resolve and execute the requests accordingly
- Weekly & monthly payment recons and accurate capturing of payments as well as account management for agents on credit accounts
- Work closely with other departments and suppliers to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Assisting with payment of accounts when reservations manager is off/on leave (liaising with accounts team & owners regarding payments for creditors such as PMS OTA s Sales Reps IT management etc.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working on Nightsbridge and other similar PMS & channel managers
- Previous experience in the safari industry and with reservations management is essential
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook Office suite (Excel and Word) and online OTA s
- Techsavvy
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent organisational & planning skills and ability to multitask
- Fluent in spoken and written English. Afrikaans and other languages will also be a plus
- Excellent email and telephone etiquette
- Strong and effective communication skills both verbal and written with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced environment
- Friendly approachable and professional with a positive attitude and strong desire to provide excellent service
- Must be able to work alone/without supervision and within a team
- Critical and creative thinking to resolve guest queries conflicts errors and other potential obstacles
