Job Description
Trevor Day School is seeking a fulltime Middle School English leave replacement teacher and advisor for the fall semester of theschool year. Responsibilities include planning and teaching 6th Grade English to the entire grade. Students examine the process of developing individual voice through narrative and analytical writing assignments regularly refining their own written and oral expression through this exploration. Importantly students continue to develop vocabulary and grammar skills through consistent lessons and practice exercises.
Important to the role of a middle school teacher is serving as an advisor to a group of approximately ten 6thgrade students. Responsibilities of the advisor include holding group advisory meetings three times per week functioning as the primary school contact for those students families and holding twiceyearly family conferences.
Qualifications and experiences should include:
Masters degree preferred.
Three or more years of fulltime experience teaching English.
Clear passion for the subject matter.
Experience incorporating reading and writing skills instruction into the curriculum.
Experience using varied methods of assessment and providing effective written feedback.
Adept at designing and delivering lessons that challenge and inspire students.
Experience differentiating instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles.
Proficiency with using technology to enhance classroom learning.
Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on lesson planning and innovative curriculum development.
Proven ability to form strong relationships with students families and colleagues.
Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.
A growth mindset and passion for learning.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility creativity patience and a sense of humor.
The fulltime annual salary range for this position is $55000$176000 as per the schools salary scale. When extending an offer for employment Trevor Day School bases the salary upon several factors that include (but are not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education training key skills and peer salary equity.
