Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive educational team. The ideal candidate will have experience providing 1:1 support to students with Special Educational Needs with a particular focus on Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support and managing challenging behavior.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN including those with SEMH requirements
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans
- Support the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students promoting equality and diversity
- Liaise with parents carers and external agencies as required to support the holistic development of students with SEN
- Contribute to the overall positive ethos of the school and participate in CPD opportunities to further develop skills in SEN support
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in providing 1:1 support to individuals with SEN particularly SEMH support and managing challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- A patient empathetic and resilient approach to supporting the individual needs of students with SEN
- An understanding of inclusive educational practices including differentiation and personalized learning approaches
- Relevant qualifications in SEN support and/or education (desirable)
DaytoDay
- Engage in 1:1 support sessions with students implementing strategies to support their individual needs
- Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt and differentiate learning materials to meet the needs of students with SEN
- Monitor and record the progress and behaviour of students providing feedback to the SENCo and contributing to review meetings
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the schools policies promoting positive and inclusive interactions
- Foster positive relationships with students providing emotional support and encouragement in their learning journey
- Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment promoting diversity and equality for all students and staff members
