Job Description
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client a leading player in the renewable energy sector. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in solar energy and electrical systems. This role is ideal for a Pr Eng (Professional Engineer) registered with the ECSA who is looking to make a significant impact in a growing industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design develop and oversee the installation of solar energy systems and related mechanical components.
- Integrate solar solutions with electrical infrastructure ensuring efficient performance and safety.
- Conduct feasibility studies technical analyses and simulations to optimize designs and system functionality.
- Manage and mentor Junior Engineers offering guidance on technical aspects and industry best practices.
- Provide technical support during project implementation and operational phases.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including Electrical Engineers Project Managers and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards codes and regulations particularly within the renewable energy sector.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- ECSA Registration: Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) in South Africa.
- Degree: BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on solar energy and electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies particularly solar energy systems and electrical integration.
- Proven experience in project management including budgeting scheduling and overseeing installations.
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g. SANS IEC).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with simulation software such as AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar tools.
- Familiarity with energy storage systems and grid integration.
- Previous experience working with contractors and suppliers in the renewable energy sector.
