Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree required Masters degree preferred in biomedical or electrical or computer engineering or computer science.
  • 35 years of experience in both project management hardware support and software development.
  • Proficiency in C C or C# MATLAB and R; and familiarity with Unix/Linux Server administration. Perl BASH scripting Database Management System Java. Basic knowledge of cognitive neuroscience and biomedical imaging is preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory at Brigham and Womens Hospital/Harvard Medical School (Boston Massachusetts USA) seeks an applicant who will provide onsite technical support for neuroimaging data acquisition data flow and analysis work flow management coordinate functional MRI scanning sessions and participate in developing new neuroimaging software tools under the supervision of a senior biomedical engineer and neuroimaging analyst scientist in the lab. The applicant must have working experience in supporting and project managing vendorsupplied software applications biomedical instruments and electronic equipment working knowledge in both Linux and Windows environment and strong computer programming skills. This position provides the opportunity for the applicant to participate in major methodological and analytic developments in the use of functional neuroimaging to study complex structural and functional brain activity and connectivity including data analysis methods devised to distill network properties from highdimensional and multimodal datasets at a major brain imaging center.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participation in stateoftheart research software system development utilizing high performance computing (HPC) clusters and creating webbased interface for data flow management and multistep work flow management for neuroimaging data processing analysis and visualization pipelines and tools.
  • Onsite engineering support for neuroimaging data acquisition environment which includes vendorspecific hardware and software maintanence and instruments troubleshooting and provides usage training for physician/scientist investigators research assistants and other research personnel.
  • Production of associated documentation and interactive user interface and preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Supervision by laboratory image analysis scientist (biomedical electrical and computer engineer /mathematician /statistician) and interaction with system architect/analyst/administrator database developer application specialists at Partners Research Computing.
  • Exposure to advanced brainmind imaging research in an academic interdisciplinary federallyfunded medical setting (involving physicians neuroscientists cognitive psychologists physicists mathematicians statisticians engineers and fellows/students).
