General Summary/Overview:
Under the general direction of Behavioral Program Manager the Behavioral HealthClinician will be an integral part of the Behavioral Health Team. The clinician will provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to their assigned patient caseload as well as participate in administrative and other professional activities with the Integrated Care Team. The clinician will additionally participate in the development and delivery of training and support services to current PMA professional and administrative employees.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide behavioral health clinical services to assigned caseload including assessing and diagnosing delivering individual couples family and group therapeutic interventions treatment planning discharge and follow up care.
- Maintain appropriate clinical records.
- Work collaboratively with other PMA and nonPMA professionals including primary care clinical team members specialist physicians social workers case managers etc. to provide integrated care.
- Maintain contact with family members as appropriate.
- Attend regular administrative supervisory and case review meetings with the Integrated Care Team.
- Provide consultation services to primary care clinical teams as needed for patients both participating and not participating in behavioral health treatment.
- Develop and present behavioral health trainings for PMA staff.
- Interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and required authorizations.
- Facilitate warm handoffs from primary care clinical teams to triage behavioral health needs.
- Assist primary care clinical team in deescalating behavioral health incidents.
- Participate in other group or department activities
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Masters in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work
- Licensed in the state of Massachusetts

- Expert clinical skills including delivering shortterm targeted solution focused behavioral health interventions assessing patient needs and diagnosis.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude in dealing with patients coworkers and other health care providers and in addressing problems and/or crisis situations.
- The ability to work independently and function effectively within a team based model of care.
- Demonstrates initiative and creativity to continuously improve services work processes and other activities that affect quality and utilization.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
- Aptitude in problemsolving and behavioral change strategies (i.e. Motivational Interviewing and Behavioral Activation).
- Ability to serve as a critical liaison to facilitate connections between people.
- Ability and willingness to work in a timelimited structured and solutionfocused environment.
- Ability and willingness to function independently and proactively in a primary health care setting.
- Ability to maintain a professional stance if conflicts arise with other staff or patients.
- Flexibility to adapt to unforeseen needs or circumstances program evolution and shifts in prioritization.
- Effective use of the Internet and Microsoft Office programs such as Word Excel and Outlook.
Working Conditions:
Behavioral Health Clinical staff will work in both a normal office environment as well as in a healthcare practice setting. He/She will need to travel to multiple sites within the Pentucket Medical group.
