MacArthur Recruitment is seeking someone to provide Technical Support for our client. This is an amazing opportunity to join a passionate and progressive team with a company that combines ingenious technology with passionate people who want to having meaningful roles.
This is a mixed role home based with a weekly visit to the office in Cumbria as well as some site visits to hosting sites.
You will provide support to your business colleagues and customers on all aspects of technology infrastructure. Your skillset is likely to be a mixed background in as many of these as possible Microsoft applications and tools IP networks VMWare telephony (SIP IP PBX Soft phones) security / firewall software support databases and Linux.
The role will involve diagnosing issues and resolving liaison with other team members on escalation and providing feedback to interested parties.
The role is with a company who are expanding and working with more customers. As a result there will be future opportunities for you to develop your career.
Responsibilities for the role of Technical Support include:
- Providing the first point of contact for technical support issues that are raised by any area of the business.
- Helpdesk
- Collation of full details of any issue reported rectify the problem or to enable other team members to resolve the issue efficiently.
- Take ownership of incidents and manage them through to resolution.
- Configuration of office hardware and software.
- Day to day monitoring of all systems to predict any potentially service affecting issues.
- Ability to research ideas and concepts in order to source suitable technical solutions or resolve problems
- Production of data and reporting information
- Monitoring of systems
- Home based mostly with some site visits

- Telephony SIP based
- Service desk / Helpdesk (Fresh Desk)
- IP network Open Standard eg RTP
- Soft phones Call services
- Asterisk IPPBX IP Cortex
- VMWare
- MySQL / Postgress / SQL Server
- Microsoft / Windows tools servers software and hardware
- Chrome book
- Linux
- Product support bespoke and propriety
- Firewall security
- Debugging software in conjunction with development (any coding or happy t o learn is a bonus but no pressure)
- Opensource applications support
- AGILE / LEAN business
- Oncall with allowance
The ideal candidate will have graduated in IT/Computing or have had previous relevant experience alongside experience of software support. As an effective communicator with good customer facing skills you will also possess the ability to proactively problem solve.
