The Senior Accountants key responsibilities include general ledger accounting functions financial reporting process improvement business partnering compliance audit coaching and mentoring the AP and AR teams.
Duties &Responsibilities
- Oversee monthend and yearend close processes ensure accuracy in financial reporting and review balance sheet reconciliations. Improve financial processes to ensure efficiency in meeting deadlines.
- Manage quarterly forecasting / yearly budget preparation.
- Manage weekly and monthly cash flow projections.
- Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at yearend.
- Prepare and file monthly commodity tax as well as prepare supporting documents for corporate tax filing and Royalties NR4.
- Mentor junior team members in accounts payable accounts receivable and the general ledger (capital and Corp/commodity taxes).
- Support F&A team with workflow process improvement and special projects.
- Partner with senior leadership to align F&A capabilities with company expansion and evolving business needs.
- Develop implement and maintain a robust internal control framework to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage / Administrate Concur travel and entertainment expenses system and fleet program.
- Manage insurance administration/claims.
- Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Perform adhoc analysis and projects as requested.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience including AR AP and Capex in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles general accounting Corp & commodity tax budget/ forecast and best practices.
- Experience as a team lead is preferred.
- Proficiency in GAAP / ASPE and local tax regulation.
- Knowledge of internal controls compliance and audit requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Oracle ERP) Concur Travel and Entertainment system.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools like Advance Excel Power BI or Tableau is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Physical Effort:
Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the daytoday activity in the workplace. May involve standing sitting walking climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs
Work Arrangement: Hybrid 2 days inperson requirement.
