This is a halftime position 20 hours a week) managing and directing the Conflict Resolution Program (CRP) at Santa Clara University School of Law.
This is a halftime position 20 hours a week) managing and directing the Conflict Resolution Program (CRP) at Santa Clara University School of Law. This position will be supervised by the Faculty Director of the Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop Conflict Resolution Program Initiatives:
Organize and oversee events for current students to learn about CRP programming coordinate special events (e.g. annual symposium with Stanford Law School) and guest speakers
Develop and execute innovative marketing strategies including without limitation social media marketing campaigns to raise awareness (in coordination with Law School External Relations Department)
Support Law School admissions office in open houses and admissions events where the CRP will be promoted
Develop and manage new programming in collaboration with Faculty Director for example: develop trainings participation in ABA and other law student competitions coordinated learning opportunities with other law schools)
Provide classroom instruction workshops and training sessions; assist faculty members teaching conflict resolution courses (including coteaching where appropriate)
Supervise students clinical work in conjunction with faculty teaching in the Bates Mediation Clinic
Develop client outreach plans and communication or supervise teaching assistant in doing so; hire and manage student employee(s) as needed to assist with recordkeeping administrative tasks and reporting
Act as liaison for Santa Clara Superior Court in overseeing current and developing new conflict resolution opportunities for students
Host office hours to advise and mentor students on conflict resolution issues and careers and be a principal point of contact for students interested in conflict resolution
Create and distribute presentation materials relating to the CRP and keep web page updated (in coordination with External Relations)
Collect & analyze data and develop strategies for the programs growth
Community building and outreach including professional mediator networking events connecting students with alumni in the field expand neutrals mentoring/shadowing program developing externship placements etc.
Purchase needed supplies gifts equipment for the program
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Hires manages and develops student employees efficiently.
Develops initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services.
Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
Maintains contact with faculty students mentors advisors clients and administration and solicits feedback for improved services.
Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate deployment of people technology and tools planned training and performance initiatives.
Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
Represents University and University programs competently and professionally.
Prepares progress reports; informs Faculty Director of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.

Knowledge
Education and interest in Conflict Resolution (e.g. recent experience in Mediation Clinic and Conflict Resolution courses preferred)
Demonstrated understanding of how a university operates and makes decisions
Possess a positive and professional approach to all constituencies
Appreciation for and understanding of a Jesuit education
Skills
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills
Strong PC and Mac skills including Microsoft Office suite and Google Apps; willingness to learn and master new software
Abilities
The ability to work independently and complete projects accurately and on time with minimal supervision
Proven ability to thrive in a multitask fastpaced environment including working in a teamcentered manner
Ability to prioritize and delegate with minimal supervision
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree and Juris Doctor required
Min. 3 years relevant experience
Experience working in a teambased collaborative environment
Experience with developing inclusive opportunities for students with a wide range of background and experiences
Experience in managing a subordinate
