Job Description

*JOB OVERVIEW:

This fulltime position is in the Philadelphia Department of Public Health Division of HIV Health (DHH). The Data Manager Special Projects is responsible for supporting assigned projects within the Surveillance Unit of the Division of HIV Health (DHH). The Data Manager Special Projects is responsible for the development and management of data collected through several DHH programs and projects such as the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) and The Field Services Program ensuring that all assigned projects meet or exceed data quality outcome standards per CDC requirements. Responsibilities include managing large complex data files managing SAS code for data cleaning and manipulation and creating and updating documentation of data management procedures. The position will report to the Lead Epidemiologist in the Surveillance Unit of DHH.

*RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee is responsible for:

Managing and evaluating data to support assigned DHH program/project areas including the Field Services Program and MMP

Collecting cleaning and coding data using statistical analysis programming language (e.g. SAS R)

Generating internal and external adhoc reports to track completion of project deliverables and monitor progress towards outcome standards.

Supporting program/project areas in questionnaire/database development and data entry as requested

Communicating with medical facilities to ensure completion of data requirements compliance with program protocols and other project needs

Analyzing data and preparing summaries as directed including reports manuscripts and presentations which may include tables graphs and maps

Presenting analytic findings in various settings including at DHH state or national meetings and representing DHH at local regional state and national professional meetings and conferences as needed.

Contributing to the development of interventions to reduce HIV disease transmission.

*SKILLS:

Demonstrated ability with SAS and understanding of data management procedures is required.

Experience with data management and analytic software such as MS Access EPIINFO SPSS and/or ArcGIS

Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of sensitive patient information by complying with established data security protocols

Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to detail

*EXPERIENCE:

One year of work or educational experience requiring data management and/or data analysis preferred

*EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

MPH Epidemiology or related field preferred

At minimum completion of Bachelors degree preferably in public health statistics computer science or another health science with experience described above
