Job Summary
As a Residence Life Clerk at Midland College you will provide administrative support and assist in the daytoday operations of the residence life department. This includes mail handling daytime oncall responsibilities policy enforcement front desk duties excellent customer service and administrative support tasks. The Residence Life Clerk is an integral part of the residence hall community contributing to the overall wellbeing and satisfaction of residents. This role requires a dedicated individual who is committed to providing exceptional service and support to residents and staff alike.
Essential Functions
Mail Handling: Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages for residents Maintain accurate records of mail and package deliveries Daytime OnCall Responsibilities: Report and respond to resident inquiries and emergencies during daytime hours Report and coordinate with maintenance staff to address issues promptly Maintain a safe and secure environment within the residence hall/building Policy Enforcement: Report residence life policy and procedure violations to Midland College to Professional OnCall staff member Monitor resident behavior; report and document any violations Collaborate with resident advisors (RAs) and other residence life staff to ensure policy compliance Assist Hall Managers and Resident Assistants with Health and Safety Checks on residents as needed Front Desk Duties: Greet residents and visitors providing basic information and assistance Assist with checkins checkouts and room assignments as needed Answer phone calls and direct issues to appropriate party Administrative Support: Assist with filing data entry and maintaining records Coordinate meetings events and programs within the Midland College residential community Collaborate with other staff members to ensure efficient operation of the residence life department Comply with all FERPA guidelines Collaborative Team Member: Collaborate with Residence Life staff including Resident Assistants and Residence Hall Managers to foster a supportive community environment Participate in staff meetings trainings and professional development opportunities Collaborate with other staff members to ensure efficient operation of the residence life department including other parttime front desk assistants Other duties assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 50 of the time Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time The person in this position needs to move to other locations on campus occasionally Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information Use of Audible and Visual Communications Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds Duties indoors and some outdoors
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fastpaced environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping. Strong communication and problemsolving skills. Knowledge of basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office suite). Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates Degree preferred. Previous Administration or Customer Service experience. Experience with multiline telephone.
