Growing Charter School is seeking a compassionate and dedicatedSchool Counselor(preferred bilingual) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting individuals and families in need particularly within educational settings. This role involves working closely with students educators and families to provide guidance support and resources that promote mental health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Must have a Masters Degree from accredited college or university in Counseling and Guidance.
- Must have Texas Education Agency Counselor Certification.
- Provide counseling and support to students facing various challenges including emotional behavioral and academic issues.
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
- Educate students and families about available resources and services within the community.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies for students in distress or facing emergencies.
- Collaborate with teachers administrators and other professionals to create a supportive environment for all students.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of students within the educational system.
- Facilitate workshops on topics such as mental health awareness cultural diversity and crisis management.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress while ensuring confidentiality.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in school counseling.
Skills
- Develop implement and evaluate a comprehensive counseling and guidance program for grades EC12.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of various counseling models practices and resources.
- Counsel individuals and small groups of students with presenting needs/concerns.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and emotional intelligence.
- Help students in understanding and overcoming social behavior or academic problems.
- Value and respond to the diversity and individual differences of students.
- Help students form healthy goals mindsets and behaviors.
- Consult with parents teachers administrators and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
- Coordinate with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.
