PROGRAM: Family Court Clinical Evaluation Unit (CEU)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Family Court Clinical Evaluation Unit provides for the behavioral health needs of children and their families by offering assessment treatment and case monitoring services that will determine in large measure the outcomes of Family Court hearings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Language Requirement: Must be fluent in Spanish
- Conduct facetoface interviews with adults and adolescents using the Forensic Services Substance Use Evaluation Questionnaire/Interview assessment tool. These evaluations take place directly after an emotional court hearing. Skills in deescalation and redirection are a must.
- Apply for funding for each participants individual treatment needs to multiple funding sources. The appropriate level of care (e.g. intensive outpatient shortterm inpatient treatment dual diagnosis outpatient) must be derived from and substantiated by the ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine).
- Act as a liaison between clinical treatment staff and the court community.
- Occasionally appear in court to testify on treatment recommendations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with treatment providers to obtain necessary information on each participants progression in treatment.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
SKILLS:
- Important: Candidate must possess excellent writing skills as the reports created by the CEU are official documents entered into the court record.
- Must be fluent in Spanish
- Have a desire to help people and families that suffer from addiction
- Able to maintain a calm polite and respectful composure in an emotionally charged work environment
- Highly organized and able to perform multiple tasks under strict timelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in behavioral health social work psychology or another related area
- 2 years of experience in behavioral health
- 1 year of experience as a counselor
- Experience in substance use assessment treatment and recovery
- Strongly preferred: Working knowledge of criminal justice populations and cooccurring disorders
- Preferred: ASAM training/certification
SALARY GRADE: 17
