General Summary:
The District K12 Music Department Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the K12 music department programming across the district. The District Support Specialist reports to the Chief Academic OfficerSecondary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development Assist with the development implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive K12 music curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
- Program Coordination Coordinate and oversee various music programs including band choir orchestra/strings and general music classes.
- Staff Support Provide professional development and support to music teachers including instructional strategy alignment assessment technique alignment and curriculum development/implementation.
- Collaboration Collaborate with other department heads administrators and community partners to promote music education initiatives.
- Assessment and Evaluation Assist with the implementation of assessment tools to measure student progress and program effectiveness.
- Budget Management Assist in managing the departments budget including coordination of purchasing equipment and supplies.
- Scheduling and Staffing Assist with the development and implementation of teacher schedules. Actively participate in the hiring and interview process of new music teachers.
- Communication Effectively communicate with students parents staff and the community regarding music programs and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
- Deep understanding of music theory history and pedagogy
- Knowledge of state and national music education standards
- Familiarity with various music teaching methodologies
- Understanding of instructional technology and software

Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Duties include frequent walking and physical activity as well as use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying. Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property including bending pushing/pulling lifting twisting climbing stooping or crouching to complete workrelated tasks with and without students.

Environmental Conditions:
Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures including work on slippery and/or uneven surfaces. Work environment includes working around students school equipment and office equipment.
Work Schedules:
Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the districts school year calendar.
