Job Description

POSITION: Para Educator Level I Multi Language Learner Support

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Provide small group instruction to atrisk students. Supervise students during recess and lunch times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate of Arts Degree 2 years of college credits or Para Educator Praxis
  • Spanish Speaking preferred

ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice. Depending upon individuals assignments the office aide will perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  1. Ability to maintain a student centered organized positive climate
  2. Ability to read write and communicate effectively
  3. Communicate and respond effectively and in a friendly professional manner with students parents community members and school personnel.
  4. Ability to accept responsibility and take direction
  5. Work collaboratively and collegially.
  6. Comply with district rules and regulations.
  7. Conduct all work in a safe manner as specified by district rules.
  8. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  9. Ability to plan instruct and supervise elementary age students
  10. Ability to work oneonone or in a small group with highly atrisk middle/high school students.
  11. Ability to provide support assistance and give specific instruction under the direction of a certified LAP Director.
  12. Skilled at record keeping and computers.
  13. Monitor students both in and out the classroom.

STATE/DISTRICT MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR/AED card or ability to attain one
  • Fingerprinting (paid by employee)
  • Proof of Immunization (if born 1157 or later)
  • I9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform Act
  • HIV/HBV Training (district provided)
  • Sexual Harassment Training (district provided)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 180 Days per year
  • 2 Hours per day
  • Salary(DOE)
