The Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a pool of applicants for adjunct faculty positions on an ongoing basis. Should funding for such adjunct teaching positions become available the Undergraduate Studies Office will contact persons in the pool whose credentials match our teaching needs. This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. Note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the pool.

BUSN 301: Career and Professional Development course enrollment is restricted to majors in the School of Business who have completed at least 24 credit hours (sophomore standing). This course focuses on preparing students to enter and succeed in the world of business today. Students will examine standard practices and expectations across organizations evaluate and develop an individual professional style create a career plan and prepare to successfully market themselves for an internship or job.

As an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business you will help support the School of Business strategic plan. Instructors will be expected to hold regular online office hours.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Business or related field

  • Teaching experience higher education

  • 5 years of work in business

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching and collaborating with diverse populations


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses online

  • Experience with Canvas or other Learning management systems.
