Performs technical skills and assists surgeons anesthesia personnel registered nurses and other professionals in the operating room. May also perform similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation.
Pursues professional growth and development.
Performs all responsibilities/duties required as defined in the scope of service to address the unique needs of the client.
Functions as a role model for current and new surgical staff.
Attends all required safety training programs and understands responsibilities related to general safety department/service safety and jobspecific hazards.
Adheres to the hospitals exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients families visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional responsible and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relationships and collaborates as part of a department/unit team both inter and intradepartmentally to achieve the departments/units goals and objectives.
Maintains accurate documentation.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Graduate of a formal accredited surgical technician training program.
Six months of recent operating room experience.
One year of clinical experience preferred.
BLS certification required.
Certification in surgical technology preferred.
Central Sterile Processing experience preferred.
