Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: TEACHER

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsements in the area to which assigned.
  2. Applicant must have good health and no disqualifying physical or emotional handicaps. Evidence of fitness to teach from the standpoint of health may be required from a qualified physician.
  3. Applicant who has had teaching experience must have an acceptable rating on such teaching.

REPORTS TO: Principal and/or a designee

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To comply with school and school board policies and regulations.
  2. To work cooperatively with the total staff.
  3. To relate positively to parents and other community representatives.
  4. To demonstrate professional growth.
  5. To be prompt and accurate with required records and reports.
  6. To demonstrate command of standard English both spoken and written.
  7. To accept responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to the school.
  8. To use instructional and planning time effectively.
  9. To assume responsibility or care of materials equipment and facilities.
  10. To assume responsibility for a neat safe environment for students committed to the teachers care.
  11. To practice and promote positive interaction with and among students.
  12. To demonstrate interest in the student encourage selfdirection and selfmotivation in students.
  13. To demonstrate a knowledge of the subject being taught.
  14. Maintain an organized program of instruction based on long range plans.
  15. To exhibit evidence of effective lesson plans
  16. To utilize appropriate and varied teaching techniques and learning activities.
  17. To communicate lesson objectives and its importance to students.
  18. Demonstrate ability to adjust presentation of subject content to students needs and interest.
  19. To perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.

TITLE: TEACHER (continued)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

TenMonth Contract exempted FLSA status. Salary will be established annually by the School Board.

EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations and evaluation of personnel.
