Job Description
Inpatient Pediatrics unit.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) functions within the policies practices and program plans of the Department of Nursing at the organization. Under the supervisor of the Baird 5 (Inpatient Pediatrics) Nurse Manager s/he is responsible for planning implementing and evaluating Child Life programming for the hospitalized children that is designed to further the social emotional and physical wellbeing of children within the hospital setting. In addition s/he is also responsible for overseeing pediatric volunteers and for orienting hospital staff to the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and their families.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree in Child Life required. Masters degree in Child Life preferred.
Previous completion of 600hour internship under the direct supervision of a CCLS required.
Certification as a CCLS is preferred. Certification within 6 months of hire required.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1 year experience working as a Child Life Specialist preferred.
