We are seeking passionate & selfdirected Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our team and collaboratewith us at our beautiful location in Ladysmith BC on central Vancouver Island. This is a casual position commencing as soon as possible.
The Opportunity
- As a part of our Childcare Support Team our ECEAs:
- Works as a part of a team with all staff members under the direction of the Program coordinator
- Seek and accept guidance from the Early childhood Educators in the program
- Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical cognitive emotional and social development of children
- Assist in all areas of curriculum planning and implementation.
- Assists with the program planning and sharing of cultural information recruiting of community member resources to enhance the program being offered.
- Assists with supervising of the children at play role modeling appropriate behavior and positive adult relationships.
- Engage children in activities by telling stories teaching songs and preparing crafts
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Participates in daily routines duties e.g. cleanup toileting including diapering lunchtime and outdoor play.
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- Attends and participates in workshops and classes to build on knowledge that will enhance skills and abilities.
- Reads and records information in the daily logbook for each room.
- Maintains a high standard of professional ethics in relationships with children parents and other members of the staff and community.
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed at least one course of a basic early childhood education training program in Child development guidance health and safety or nutrition through an educational institution
- Must be willing to further their education in the field of Early Childhood Education with the addition of a basic early childhood education training program through an educational institution that is recognized by Childcare licensing within the time allocated on their Certificate to practice
- Valid First Aid certificate as required by Childcare Licensing
- Lift and/or move between 10 pounds up to 30 pounds.
- Frequent combinations of sitting climbing standing walking balancing bending crouching Kneeling and crawling
- Ability to adjust and participate in indoor and outdoor activities and environments
- Able to handle exposure to; high noise levels bodily fluids infectious illness/diseases
- Eligibility for clearance of a Criminal Record Check for Working with Children & Vulnerable Adult
