Designated Early Childhood Educator - Temporary

Location: Englehart Public School

Start date : August 28 2025 (temporary position until October 10 2025 or return of absent employee)

Vacancy Details: 1.0 (full-time 35 hours/week)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The DECE will:

  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher and principal to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
  • Co-facilitate play-based activities that allow students to demonstrate learning related to the four frames of the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
  • Effectively and efficiently observe and document student learning using a variety of tools and techniques to assist the educator in the assessment of the development of students
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to promote and maintain a healthy physical emotional and social learning environment
  • Assume other duties/responsibilities specifically related to the functions of children and the effective delivery of the Early Learning Curriculum as determined by the Principal and the Superintendent of Education

    ASSETS:

  • Thorough understanding of the Ministry of Educations Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
  • Thorough understanding of the developmental continuum for this age group
  • Demonstrated appropriate behaviour management techniques with individuals small and large groups
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills in working with students teachers principals and families
  • Demonstrated professional communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative positive thinking critical thinking and sound decision-making skills
