About the Role

The Head of Credit Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the credit functions of AutoChek Financial Services in Nigeria. This role involves developing strategic plans for effective credit management managing the full spectrum of credit processes (from originations to collections and repossessions) and ensuring profitability within their risk framework. You will drive operational excellence and serve as the key liaison between local operations and corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

Profit & Loss Ownership:

  • Manage the incountry P&L ensuring profitability through effective financial and performance monitoring.

Credit Operations Oversight:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive credit strategies covering originations underwriting collections repossessions and disposal.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external financing entities to meet SLAs and drive channel growth.

Operational Excellence & Risk Management:

  • Drive continuous improvement through datadriven decision making and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to meet performance targets.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead mentor and develop the credit operations team.
  • Represent the company at industry events fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Competency & Skill Requirements

Analytical & Financial Acumen:

  • Expertise in credit risk analysis portfolio management and financial planning including pricing and expense control.

Leadership & Strategic Vision:

  • Proven leadership in dynamic environments with the ability to inspire teams and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing complex multifaceted operations.

Communication & Negotiation:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong track record in stakeholder engagement and negotiation.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Advanced data management and visualization skills using MS Suite; familiarity with Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • A proactive approach to adopting technology for enhanced operational efficiency.

Risk & Change Management:

  • Ability to balance risk and profitability while implementing effective risk controls and managing change.
