LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST

The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for Library Media Specialist teaching positions that may become available within our division for theschool year.
Please note this is a continuous recruit posting to build an applicant pool for all schools. As positions become available all qualified applicants with complete application files will be considered. Should a specific location/job be posted you may also be required to apply to that posting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Library Media Specialist works with teachers and other school staff to provide skills and materials to supplement student learning. Responsibilities include maintaining an updated and efficiently functioning library; maintaining and upgrading library materials; supervising the circulation of library materials; instructing students on how to use the library; and performing management duties related to the library.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teachers License with appropriate endorsement as a Library Media Specialist
- Have extensive knowledge of books and literature
- Apply technology in an educational setting
- Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes collaboration and managing coursework
- Create and maintain an inclusive supportive learning environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and needs of all students
- Communicate effectively with strong written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
- Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
- Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
- Demonstrate dependability punctuality and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with the selection and utilization of library media materials and equipment including the various technologies found in the media centers
- Experience with the organization administration and evaluation of a library media center including ethical issues
- Familiarity with the role of the library media specialist as a resource person for students and professional staff in curriculum design and the integration of library media services in instruction
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: $50072.26 $83120.04 annually with benefits; commensurate with experience (current salary scale may change due to budget considerations)
