Join our team as a Quality Assurance Engineer where you will play a vital role
in ensuring the highest standards of quality in our Transformer supply process
from initial inquiry through to the completion of erection and commissioning.

This role involves providing comprehensive quality assurance support utilising
advanced methodologies and tools to support stakeholders and enhance
customer satisfaction.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Customer Satisfaction: Enhance customer satisfaction by providing proactive support to address customer complaints and issues collaborating with Fulfilment Engineering Manufacturing and Sourcing teams to resolve problems efficiently.

Quality Planning: Review Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for qualityrelated aspects preparing and issuing projectspecific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Risk Analysis: Contribute to risk analysis from Inquiry to Order (ITO) and Order to Remittance (OTR) stages leveraging insights from previous projects to mitigate potential risks.

Engineering Support:

  • Assist Engineering teams with Design Failure Mode and Effects
  • Analysis (DFMEA) to identify potential design risks and implement preventive measures.

Manufacturing Support:

  • Provide Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Support to Manufacturing Engineering to ensure robust manufacturing processes.

Measurement Device Qualification: Aid manufacturing teams in qualifying measurement devices by supporting Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R) studies and process capability(Cpk) assessments.

Governance and Reviews: Govern Design and Manufacturing Gate reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.

NonConformance Management: Review and manage NonConformance Reports (NCRs) ensuring effective resolution and preventive actions.

Continuous Improvement: Coach teams on the 8D problemsolving methodology to foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in driving customer satisfaction through effective quality assurance practices.
  • Expertise in Quality Assurance methodologies and tools; Six Sigma certification is highly desirable.
  • Internal auditor qualification is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of quality prevention methodologies including DFMEA PFMEA R&R studies and Cpk assessments.

  • Proactive and willing to promote change driving simplification and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in a matrix organisational structure demonstrating the ability to navigate complex environments and manage multiple stakeholders.

Lichfield Road manufacturing facility has been originally established in 1903 and has been standing since 1960 as a part of English Electric group delivering power transformers that later merged GEC Alsthom and later became ALSTOM and has been acquired by GE in 2015. Stafford is ideally suited for research and advanced manufacturing with our highly skilled staff and position at the heart of the UKs transport network. GE is proud to be the largest employer in Stafford with around 1700 employees across multiple sites.

The transformer facility has been renowned all over the world with its expertise in design manufacturing and delivery of HVAC and HVDC transformers worldwide up to 800kV.
