Job Description

Primoris Energy Services is urgently hiring Pipefitter & Civil Helpers in Port Arthur Texas. The pay ranges from $22 to $24 per hour with a schedule of 5 days a week 10 hours each day. Theres potential for additional hours as the project progresses offering a fantastic opportunity for overtime pay. The project is already underway and will extend into July 2025. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Pipefitter Helper assists pipefitter or performs duties in absence of pipefitter related to lay out fabricate assemble install and maintain piping and piping systems and supports fixtures and equipment for industrial piping systems; this includes: carbon steel stainless steel chrome and PVC systems and miscellaneous cleanup activities.

Civil Helpers assist carpenters in the construction installation and fabrication of form structures of wood patent form systems or a combination of both.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

PIPEFITTER HELPER

  • Class A/B/C:
    • Thread pipe.
    • Make measurements to the 1/32 using measuring tape.
    • Use power tools drill motors end and angle grinders and portabands.
    • Identify and sort nuts bolts and screws by size and material.
    • Identify threaded pipe fittings.
    • Perform flange makeup (torque).
    • Identify socket weld fittings.
  • Class A/B:
    • Perform basic math: add subtract multiply and divide.
    • Identify all thread rod by size and left or right hand threads.
    • Read basic pipe blueprints.
    • Identify PVC pipe and fittings.
    • Identify rigging equipment.
    • Identify pipe fittings by size type material and service type.
    • Setup and operate oxyacetylene torch for heating and cutting
  • Class A
    • Read and interpret isometric drawings.
    • Cut gaskets with gasket cutter.
    • Identify and discriminate cutting and welding gases.
    • Setup and purge stainless steel pipe.
    • Install reinforced concrete pipe.
    • Fabricate PVC pipe from isometrics.
    • Give crane and heavy equipment hand signals.
    • Read and interpret hanger and support drawings.
    • Identify gaskets materials by size material type and ratings.
    • Perform craft math.
    • Identify and sort valves by size type and materials.
    • Identify hanger components by type kind size and material composition.
    • Install cast iron push joint pipe.
    • Install ductile iron mechanical joint pipe.
    • Fabricate for socket weld pipe from isometrics.
    • Identify pipe by size type and wall thickness.
    • Transfer bench marks and layout elevations.
    • Perform simple rigging operations.
    • Install steam traps.
    • Use power actuated anchor gun/red hand.
    • Fabricate threaded pipe from isometrics.
    • Install fabricated pipe butt weld socket weld and screw pipe from orthographies.
    • Prepare material and pipe takeoffs for butt weld socket weld and threaded pipe.
    • Fabricate butt weld pipe from isometrics.

CIVIL HELPER

  • Class A/B/C:
    • Clean and oil patented forms.
    • Use handsaw.
    • Drive nails.
    • Strip forms.
    • Use sledgehammer and stripping bar.
    • Identify parts and sizes of panels for patented forms.
    • Identify form hardware to erect forms.
    • Identify nail types and sizes.
    • Perform basic math.
    • Make measurements using a tape to the 1/8 tolerance.
    • Operate portable generators.
    • Use form hardware to erect forms.
    • Recognize and identify unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to employees work environment to control or eliminate any hazards of other exposure to illness or injury.
  • Class A/B:
    • Identify patented form hardware.
    • Identify lumber by grade and size.
    • Identify parts of a form and purpose of each.
    • Know and practice OSHA scaffold and ladder rules.
    • Hand signal equipment operators.
    • Use form hardware.
    • Read blueprint plans and elevations.
  • Class A:
    • Build radius forms haunch forms and fireproof beams.
    • Install blockouts and pipe sleeves.
    • Use a framing square for layout work.
    • Assemble patented forms.
    • Read and interpret civil blueprints to perform erection tasks.
    • Identify reinforcing steel.
    • Set anchor bolts and embeds.
    • Perform rigging for lifts.
    • Form chest from blueprints.
    • Form manhole.
    • Perform basic rebar tying.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must comply with companys drug and alcohol abuse policy.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination and as required by the company.
  • Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders scaffolding stairways etc.
  • Stoop kneel crouch crawl or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers vessels excavations etc..
  • Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt concrete asphalt mud gravel etc.

Work Environment:

  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop and/or laydown yard
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site:
    • Uneven ground level
    • Obstructed pathways
    • Work performed at low and/or high elevations
    • Work performed in confined areas
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site:
    • Predominately outdoor climate
    • May be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather
    • Excessive humidity rain etc.
    • Various noise levels caused by tools machinery equipment etc.
    • Potential exposure to chemical substances
