The Department of Computer Science at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for the course LING 160b: Mathematical Methods for Computational Linguistics a 4 credit course in Fall 2025. This course provides background math content needed for the study of computational linguistics/natural language processing and machine learning focusing especially on linear algebra and differential calculus in one or several variables. The course serves first year students in the Brandeis Computational Linguistics MS program primarily along with undergraduates aiming to take computational linguistics courses. The course is provisionally scheduled for Mondays Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:201:10pm but this could potentially be changed to suit the candidates schedule.
Candidates with at least a Masters Degree in Mathematics or Computer Science and who can demonstrate strong teaching potential from prior course instructor and/or TA work will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter CV a draft course syllabus and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is March 3 2025.
