Job Description

Your Role:

The Medical Director US Medical Affairs is responsiblefor working closely with the Head US Medical Affairs Oncology to develop and implement US Medical Affairs strategicinitiatives for EMD Seronos Therapeutic Area of Oncology. Leading medical core team members from Field Medical Affairs Medical Communications Medical Information and HEOR while collaborating transversely with business partners from commercial R&D Global Medical Affairs; the Medical Director is responsiblefor the development and of key medical affairs asset plans. Furthermore the Medical Director will work closely where applicable with Alliance partners. The Medical Director will be cognizant of Oncology Key Thought Leaders(KTL) in the relevant indications and has the credibility to develop strong medicalscientific relationships.

The Medical Director will address the needs of the evolving immuneoncology landscape and must be able to contribute value to our assets in the health care system by leading data generation and dissemination through appropriate peerreviewed and peertopeer channels.The Medical Directormust specifically understand the key decision drivers of the relevant external stakeholders (patients medical experts (KTLs) payors etc. and develop the matching programs and data. The Medical Director must have expertise in immuneoncology relevant oncology indications; while also being a strategic with a strong track record of executing medical affairs plans. You will work closely with the Head of NA Medical Affairs Oncology to set direction implement strategy and ensure delivery of outcomes for US Medical Affairs function.

  • Assure timely delivery of key US Medical Affairs Oncology objectives as related to US Medical Affairs Plan the MA KPIs and corporate objectives and in a highly dynamic environment
  • Develop and implement the relevant strategies tactics and programs to accomplish US Medical Affairs Oncology objectives
  • Set track and provide status updates about US Medical Affairs Oncology programs and related processes within the department
  • Develop and execute as appropriate all aspects of KTL engagement
  • Provide scientific and medical perspectives informing clinical and commercial development strategies patient advocacy publications strategy medical communications and identification of strategically impactful evidence generation programs
  • Provide program management support in the development communication and implementation of US Medical Affairs programs policies and procedures.
  • Represent Oncology Medical Affairs on the internal and external Medical meetings and committees.
  • Contribute to the development of Oncology Medical Affairs training materials
  • Collaborate with other therapeutic areas to leverage US Medical Affairs Oncology expertise and programs as appropriate
  • Work closely with and ensure collaboration between US Medical Affairs Oncology including HE&OR Global Medical Affairs and Clinical Development as well as the other functions within the CMO organization
  • Provide close collaboration and alignment of goals and objectives with strategic partners
  • Work in close collaboration of the US Medical Field Team contribute to their hiring planning strategy tactics and education.
  • Provide reporting and information to US Medical Affairs Oncology team to track progress vs. plans

Who you are:

  • Medical Oncologist: MD or DO required
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare industry with demonstration of successful results
  • Prior experience of at least 3 years in Oncology Medical Affairs required
  • Demonstrated understanding of the clinical development and postmarketing environment for pharmaceuticals including postmarketing clinical studies and medical affairs strategic initiatives in Oncology
  • Excellent management teamwork communication and presentation skills and solid experience in developing strategic plans and oversight processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams manage a diverse work group motivate them and maximize productivity
  • Creation and oversight of crossfunctional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in influencing on medical field teams in changing competitive environment changing product technology and changing needs
  • Experience in working in an environment which integrates all business unit functions
  • Demonstrated orientation & credibility with internal and external customers
  • Creation of solid plans and reports for which performance and progress can be measured and evaluated
  • Knowledge and application of business planning & leadership principles such as goal setting action plans monitoring tools directive and supportive techniques to develop and implement action plans
  • Possess strong budget experience and knowledge
  • Able to travel 50
