The expectation is once accepting a summer positionthe staff is required to report to work for the entire summer session. Paid leave isnotgranted during the summer sessions and staff does not receive benefits of the regular school year (i.e. sick leave business leave vacation days etc.
Summer program staffmustmake a commitment to be present for the ENTIRE program including all inservice days workdays and student instructional days. Failure to make this commitment may impact future employment with the Summer programs.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for working with the Site Facilitator to assist with the coordination of staffing implementation and the oversight of program. Lifting may be required as part of your school assignment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Site Facilitator with the supervision of students to insure the care and safety of all and with the supervision of teachers and staff and evaluates their effectiveness in implementing the instructional program and philosophy.
Assists staff in evaluating their instructional strategies to ensure the program is being implemented effectively based on students needs and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Establishes an effective working relationship with staff students and parents to ensure a positive school climate.
Communicates effectively with teachers staff parents and students.
Develops a collaborative working relationship with the host schools staff.
Complies with AACPS policies/procedures and maintains communication with Central Office and follows due process in resolving student discipline issues.
Provides staff inservices and materials of instruction (MOI) to teachers and ensures proper care and use of the facility and equipment.
Reviews Student Progress Reports for appropriateness.
Conveys relevant information to staff regarding students identified with health/medical concerns.
Maintains accurate complete and correct records case files etc. as required by program regulations Board policies and federal state and local laws.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
Bachelors Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
Experience
One 1 year general previous teaching assignment during the Summer Programs required.
One 1 year general previous experience working with the Summer Programs required.

Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners. Skilled /Journey/Established
Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations. Skilled /Journey/Established
Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing Microsoft Office Suite Word Excel Outlook and/or PowerPoint preferred). Skilled /Journey/Established
Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses certifications and enrollment as a condition of employment.
Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Standard Professional Certificate I (SPC I) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
