    Location: Uinta County School District #1 Evanston Wyoming

    Salary: $53400 $80400 (Placement commensurate with experience and training)

    Primary Job Function:
    The Uinta County School District# I Consulting Teacher is responsible for providing independentconsultation and guidance to educators of Special Education students on specific requirements as well asassessing needs designing developing and delivering workshops informational material and/or specialprograms to meet community and/or classroom

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in education with an emphasis in Special Education
    • Five 5 years experience working in a Special Education environment

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following dutiesresponsibilities skills abilities and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLYand is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions within thisclassification.

    Leadership:
    • Responsible for ensuring all the educational needs of students who are served on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) are following federal and state guidelines
    • Responsible for coordinating and facilitating IEP meetings. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Coordinate with special education teachers general education teachers related services
    • parents and outside agencies if needed
    • Communicate with all involved parties the outcome of meetings
    • Complete all necessary paperwork
    • Assess initial referrals
    • Responsible for completing all academic testing evaluations. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Academic testing every three years
    • Gathering state and district data
    • Facilitate the prestaffing to determine what testing needs to be completed
    • Finalize all reports upon completion of testing
    • Facilitate a prestaffing to review testing results
    • Communicate results to parents
    Responsible for assisting Counselors when building student schedules making sure they are in compliance with IEP
    Responsible for providing training for Paraprofessionals as needed

    Support:
    • Responsible for supporting the SPED director and serving as a liaison between the building and the SPED Director
    • Responsible for supporting SPED teachers. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Reviewing regulations
    • Developing appropriate goals
    • Writing progress reports
    • Developing behavior plans
    • Brainstorming problemsolving solutions
    • Responsible for supporting parents in understanding their rights and assisting with paperwork needed to support their childs education
    • Responsible for supporting and collaborating with colleagues on the PBIS RTI Guiding Coalition MANDT and SST teams
    • Responsible for monitoring student behavior needs and being available to help deescalate when necessary

    Other duties as needed:
    • Office support
    • Cover classrooms when needed
    • Represent students in the court system at their hearings
    • Monitor students who are well below basic skill levels
    • A representative for students involved with Wraparound

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledgeable about the developments and trends in special education instructional management and supervision
    • Knowledgeable about current and emerging educational research as well as best practice in special education
    • Knowledge of assessment and its relationship to curriculum and instruction
    • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and accreditation standards
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of training effects
    • Knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation
    • Skilled at effective verbal and written communication
    • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems
    • Skilled in collaboration and decisionmaking seeking consensus whenever possible
    • Skilled in conflict resolution
    • Ability to perform oral reading to students individually or in groups.
    • Ability to understand apply and use personal computers and software applications
    • Ability to interact with students to maintain discipline order and resolve disciplinary problems
    • Ability to assist students with various physical and intellectual needs
    • Ability to handle behavioral situations in a calm and effective manner
    • Ability to maintain accurate records and write reports and logs
    • Ability to think outside the box.
    • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
    • Ability to interpret apply and explain rules regulations policies and procedures
    • Ability to promote positive staff morale
    • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
    • Ability to engage in selfevaluation with regard to leadership performance and professional growth
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others

    Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
    • Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to
    • communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended
    • periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push pull
    • lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
    • Working Conditions The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to
    • blood bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.
    • Driving Requirement This position may require driving.
