Job Description

Position Title: Curriculum Coordinator Gifted and Talented/Advanced Placement

Department: District Administration

Reports To: Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Closing Date: Until Filled

SUMMARY: Work collaboratively with the Curriculum and Instruction team. Coordinate the gifted and accelerated programs. Serve as a support specialist for secondary schools. Coordinate K12 science and social studies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and continuously monitor assigned sections of the Curriculum and Instruction Department Plan.
  • Maintain and continuously monitor assigned portions of the Curriculum and Instruction budget.
  • Coordinate the identification selection placement monitoring and guidance of GT students in accordance with state standards.
  • Work collaboratively with GT specialists and other staff to develop all curriculum related to gifted and accelerated programming.
  • Observe and evaluate GT specialists and provide feedback and assistance to them to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  • Plan and provide appropriate professional development based on local educational needs.
  • Keep informed of and comply with national state district and school trends regulations and policies.
  • Conduct routine program evaluations and compile maintain and submit all required reports records and other documents.
  • Effectively communicate the Districts approach to the education of GT students within the school and to the wider community.
  • Liaise with secondary school counselors and principals to develop master schedules course catalogs and ensure compliance with Arkansas State Standards of Accreditation.
  • Coordinate the K12 Science and Social Studies Curriculum.
  • Serve as a member of the Curriculum and Instruction team and district level committees to support all district initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree; Valid Arkansas teaching license in Curriculum Program Administration or Building Level administrator license. Appropriate AR GT licensure code or equivalent. Five years of successful teaching experience required. Preferred experience: Completed requirements to evaluate using the Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS).

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation; Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness; Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners; Ability to interpret data; strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Eschool or a comparable data management system. Knowledge and experience with the PLC process and knowledge of Google Suite for Education.
