Job Description

POSITION STATEMENT: Integral part of the marching band staff. Helps in rehearsal planning show design and in implementing a visual technique in conjunction with the band director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend all competitions and home games as needed by the band director
  • Attend all rehearsals and camps during the course of the season
  • Implement marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting
  • Teach drill responsibilities

SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership organizational and time management skills necessary
  • Conducting marching choreography and performance skills and experience

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works well with others maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel and students
  • Contributes to creating a positive work environment
  • Demonstrates integrity and respects confidentiality
  • Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled day
  • Takes advantage of professional growth opportunities related to his/her specific job
  • Works independently and with confidence
  • Demonstrates ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision

Professional Performance Criteria

  • Responsible for the conduct of students during practice competitions and games
  • Help to promote team morale and spirit and ensure student safety
  • Cooperate with the Athletic Director Principal and other activity/athletics coaches and support each other in an ethical manner
  • Report promptly for all practice sessions and contests and dress according to the standards established for that activity or sport
