Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Trainer STATUS: Exempt FT 37.5 hrs. GRADE: 3

DEPT: SVSS Education & Training PROGRAM: Education & Training Services

REPORTS TO: Manager Education Services

SALARY: $50000K$52000K/yr

SUMMARY: The Trainer is responsible for the development scheduling and implementation of YWCA professional trainings and workshops to audiences in higher education and k12 schools community groups and other settings. The Trainer engages in community relationships to promote knowledge and collaborations. The Trainer actively supports the promotion of synergy across YWCA programs and in Racial Justice work. *Note: This position description also is valid for a Bilingual Trainer

COLLABORATES WITH: The Trainer collaborates with: Coordinator Training & Social Learning Education Services Advocacy Services Clinical Services Crisis Line & Volunteer Services and other SVSS location team and staff members; YWCA staff members; Volunteers; representatives of Community and State agencies and coalitions; Higher Education & K12 school personnel.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Services: Develop content and coordinate trainings and workshops. Engage nontraditional educational organizations community groups businesses professional and religious organizations about sexual violence training opportunities. Plans and present professional training conferences for school personnel students and other industry professionals; maintain ongoing relationships with all model educational institutions and organizations within the local service area.

Enhance Discovery & Community Engagement: Support the development of program innovation and training concepts that fulfill the agencys strategic intent to generate revenue. Inspire innovation partners and participating collaborators in activities to identify create and articulate training opportunities. Network with local organizations state agencies and coalitions providing training related to sexual interpersonal workplace violence and cultural humility.

Reporting: Maintain an awareness of mandated reporting requirements for potential child abuse cases and report related incidents as required. Maintain member confidentiality as designated by law or funding sources. Manage and maintain comprehensive statistical records in accordance with funding and YWCA guidelines. Monitor and assist in proposal writing.

Professional Development: Complete twelve hours per year of continuing education in providing crisis intervention services with at least six of those hours addressing the specific member populations served. Complete other continuing education and training as set by ICASA or other agencies/funders.

NONESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May work with or assist in the supervision of volunteers. Assist with planning special programs i.e. Sexual Awareness Month YWCA Week without Violence Day of Commitment.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned whether for a project special needs task or other assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced knowledge of sexual violence domestic violence and other power based person violence is required. One year of prior experience in educational programming professional training consulting is required although two years of such experience are preferred. The following skills are required for the responsibility: Other knowledge and demonstrated skills for the position relate to collaboration communication and leadership including: excellent public speaking skills; effective interpersonal skills; a working knowledge of racism and violence against women; and enthusiasm to expand the knowledge base. Background in theater performance and corporate training may also be advantageous.

The role requires developed skill in analysis to review data and program outcomes. Intermediate level skills in MS Office and Outlook are necessary with additional required knowledge of Internet use and the completion of webbased forms. Knowledge of the local geographic service area is highly advantageous.

The work requires both cultural sensitivity and an understanding of community and organizational culture. Working with diverse populations requires diplomacy and when necessary the communication of understanding and empathy. The Coordinator must work well as a team player.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: At minimum a Bachelors degree (B.A. from an accredited college or university in a related field such as Education Business Communications Public Health Social Work etc. is required.

CERTIFICATION(s) REQUIRED: ICASA 40Hour Sexual Crisis Intervention Certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical and environmental demands described represented here of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Trainer must be available for a flexible work schedule that includes potential oncall shifts. Work day consists of spending time at schools and giving presentations with noise levels which are usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job the trainer is regularly required to sit; stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to fingers handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel crouch; and talk or hear. The Trainer must occasionally lift and/or move materials that may weigh up to 15 pounds. The Trainer may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions during travel to education events. WORK SCHEDULE: Monday Friday 8:30am4:30pm. This position may require work on some evenings and weekends. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
