Job Description

District Overview:

Overview of the Malden Public Schools: The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train. Maldens student body comprises approximately 6800 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. We have 1 early learning center 5 K8 schools and 1 high school. Description:

The Math Assistant will provide math instruction to an identified atrisk population. The Math Assistant will work with the specialists school Math coach and the classroom teachers to design and teach intervention lessons that meet the specific needs of small groups or individual

students.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide intervention services to atrisk children in math in order to accelerate their Math skills
  • Participate with the specialists and the classroom teachers to design appropriate Math support to meet student needs.
  • Conduct individual diagnostic testing of students and analyze results with the schools Math coach.
  • Assist in administering appropriate testing of students and the analysis of results.
  • Meet with the specialists and classroom teachers to share observations of student performance and progress.
  • Participate in training sessions provided onsite by the grant.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at regular meetings.
  • Participate in other related tasks.
  • Attend initial training (paid) prior to start date.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working the children urban education and a diverse setting
  • Collaborative and strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced teacher tutor or paraprofessional with strong math skills
  • MA DESE licensed Mathematics (Preferred) Early Childhood Education or Elementary Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal Directors of STEM

Terms of Employment: 19 hours per week at $28 per hour

Funding Source: Title I Grant

Start Date: September 30 2024

End Date: June 6 2025
