Job Description
Heavy Machine Operator
At HiWay Paving we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving storm drainage and excavation on highways and airfields.
As Heavy Machinery Operators at HiWay Paving you will play a key role in our construction and paving operations operating heavy equipment such as excavators dozers loaders and other machinery. We are currently seeking skilled candidates to join our Columbia South Carolina project with the flexibility to travel to job sites in North Carolina Tennessee and other locations as new projects arise.
What Youll Do:
- Operate excavators GPS dozers loaders and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Assist with equipment maintenance repairs and performance improvements.
- Load and unload materials and equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
What We Look For:
- Experience: 13 years of heavy machinery operation on a construction or paving site 3 years preferred).
- Equipment Knowledge: Experience with one or more of the following: Excavators GPS Dozers Loaders Skid steer roller screed etc.
- Preferred: Highway or heavy construction experience.
- Ability to gain clearance for restricted/highsecurity zones (e.g. airport AOA military bases).
- Willingness to travel 100 of the time.
- Valid drivers license.
- Physical ability to lift 75 lbs climb walk kneel squat push pull and enter confined spaces.
- If applicable indicate union affiliation in your application.

HiWay Paving Inc. is a general contractor in the heavy/civil construction space focusing on projects involving significant amounts of concrete paving on airfields.
We operate in several southeastern and midwestern states with current job sites in Tennessee North Carolina and South Carolina as well as corporate/back office operations in Ohio (our headquarters) and remote locations. We perform most of our work and services as a prime contractor but occasionally serve as a subcontractor on principal contracts with federal state and other governmental agencies as well as private owners.
