You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailIowa State University is seeking a Community Capitals Scientist to support research for a recently awarded USDA Sustainable Agricultural Systems grant focused on the sustainability of dairy goat production in the United States. This role involves assessing both the current and potential community support for dairy goat production and its products using the Community Capitals Framework. By applying this framework the scientist will identify opportunities to enhance ecosystem health economic security and social wellbeing through the transformation and marketing of dairy goat products such as milk cheese yogurt and soap as well as byproducts like meat goats.
The position requires conducting interviews with individual farmers to understand the resources they have for integrating animals into their farming systems. At the community level the scientist will facilitate focus groups with community leaders and prospective farmers to evaluate these resources on a broader scale. This research will involve travel to three designated regionsCalifornia the Midwest and the Southeastto engage directly with stakeholders and collect essential data.

Candidate will be hired as a Research Scientist II.
