Full time faculty positions begin in July 2025 with a 30credit hour 170day contract per Board Policy 4.12 teaching load annually.
This position will have teaching responsibilities at the Glenwood Springs Spring Valley Aspen and Carbondale campuses.
The successful candidate focuses on all levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and adult high school diploma (HSD) and equivalency (HSE) courses retention and persistence of ESL HSE and HSE students compliance with Adult Education and Literacy Act (AELA) grants and requirements of any other grants associated with the department. Faculty are also expected to develop curriculum pathways and matriculation systems that are aligned with the Mountain Futures Strategic Plan and our Multilingual Academic Pathways Advising and Success (MAPAS) initiative designed to increase matriculation from Bridge programming into Undergraduate programming. This includes development of career pathway courses based on local workforce needs which feed into Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs such as hospitality tourism health and information technology. This position may include teaching at night weekend online and multiple campus locations.
This faculty position based on the successful candidates faculty credentials also includes an ability and willingness to teach introductory classes in English or other academic disciplines offered at CMC when relevant or necessary in alignment with assisting multilingual learners and multilingual learners acquiring English to be successful in undergraduate pathways. For example the successful candidate could also have credentials to teach in English Communications Business Early Childhood Education Medical Assistant or Dental Hygiene pathways. This is not an exhaustive list and there may be other acceptable areas.
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are required.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching course load as assigned evaluate courses and assess student learning meet established course program and learning outcomes comply with guidelines and policies maintain office hours per established standards develop rapport with students assist with and participate in advising orientation and registration activities.
CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees participation in relevant projects mentor peers participate in and assist with assessment activities program review student organization recruiting and retention.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
Masters degree in TESOL Linguistics English Adult Education Developmental Education Education or other degree with 18 graduate credits in TESOL required. Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) required or willingness to obtain within three years. Minimum of oneyear fulltime teaching experience or the equivalent as an adjunct faculty member. Higher education teaching experience and knowledge of a language other than English required.
Additional qualifications for teaching in at least one additional academic discipline (disciplines offered through CMC programs) are required.
Experience needed in a variety of teaching delivery modes including online. Excellent written and oral communication skills flexibility and collegiality are essential.
Course delivery may include a mix of live inperson/livestream hybrid asynchronous/synchronous and with the use of videoconferenced software modalities available to students throughout the College district. The successful incumbent has experience in various instructional modalities using a learning management system (LMS) like Canvas.

Salary range: $77575.25 $94486.59 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidates skill and experience. Although a salary range is listed salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidates qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Essential Duties
The following responsibilities and activities are listed in order to maintain consistency in the application of expectations and align job duties with evaluation and promotion procedures.

Service activities such as campus and college committees participate in relevant projects mentor peers participate in and assist with assessment activities program review student organization recruiting and retention.
All faculty acknowledge that final payment of any contract may be withheld until submission of grades is complete.
1.A.1 Teaching Responsibilities
CMC faculty members are expected to meet the educational needs of our communities by fulfilling the following responsibilities:
Teach courseload as assigned
Evaluate courses and student learning
Meet course program and institutional learning outcomes established by CMC
Comply with department guidelines and college policies
Maintain at least five office hours per week to meet with students
Develop rapport with students that is professional and encourages teacher/student communication
Assist with academic advising of students
Participate in orientation and registration activities
1.A.2 Scholarly and Creative Activities
CMC faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and improve learning. Examples of these activities may include:
Continuing certification in discipline (if applicable)
Graduate coursework
Continuing education
Sharing expertise within discipline (e.g. grant writing publishing exhibitions performances presentations conferences)
Attending campus and collegewide trainings and inservices
Conducting research
Developing/advancing instructional technology
Other activities approved by faculty member and Assistant Dean of Instruction
1.A.3 Service Activities
For CMC to best serve its diverse communities faculty members are expected to participate in a variety of organizations and committees. Service activities may include the following:
Serve on campus and collegewide committees
Represent discipline on state national and international levels
Participate in relevant projects with administrative approval
Mentor peers
Modify develop and maintain curriculum
Assist with assessment activities (e.g. develop learning outcomes and assessment projects for courses disciplines and programs)
Assist with program review
Advise student organizations
Participate in recruiting/retention activities
Attend and participate in program discipline inservice and campus meetings
Develop promotion portfolio
Participate in community service activities (as appropriate)
1.A.4 Organizational Relationships
CMC recognizes that student learning is greatly enhanced by successful collaboration among faculty staff and administration. Regarding CMCs reporting structure faculty members:
Are under the general direction of the site school discipline dean or designee;
Cooperate with other program faculty
Work with Student Services personnel in advisement of students;
Work cooperatively with Academic Services Student Services and Administrative Services personnel
Supervision of the Position
This position will report to the Dean of the School of the discipline.
Supervisory Responsibility
The position may supervise staff positions and/or student employees.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check will be required as well as motor vehicles records report when applicable. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. May require travel and evening and/or weekend hours.
Working Conditions
This position requires constant sitting occasional walking standing and driving; occasional handling objects pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms and use of finger movements; occasional lifting carrying pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oralcommunication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
