Position Title: Communications Associate
Reports to: Sr. VP of Communications and Policy Outreach and Deputy Director of Communications
Position Status: Fulltime exempt
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $70000$88000. EFIF offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical vision and dental insurance; 401k with a 5 match and 3 autoenroll; life and longterm disability insurance; pet insurance; and a pretax Flexible Savings Account Health Savings Account and parking and metro benefits. We have generous annual paid time off including 15 days of vacation 10 days of sick leave plus all federal holidays and the week between December 25 and January 1.

EFIF was founded by Ernest J. Moniz who served as the thirteenth United States Secretary of Energyduring the Obama Administration. Former Secretary Moniz also serves as the cochair of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and holds a position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Former Secretary Moniz and other principals of EFIF also are principals of EJM Associates LLC a Washingtonbased business consultancy.
Summary
The EFI Foundation is seeking a Communications Associate to assist the EFI Foundation Senior Vice President of Communications and Policy Outreach the Deputy Director of Communications and the Communications Team in activities to promote the work of the EFI Foundation to energy stakeholders and the general public.
Candidates must have at least four years of relevant communications experience after college graduation in a paid position. The EFI Foundations work includes thought leadership and analytical research on topics such as hydrogen nuclear power carbon dioxide removal natural gas and offshore wind power.
This is a hybrid position and candidates must be in or willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. area for at least three days a week in the office.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Write and edit news and featurestyle blog posts email marketing content event promotional materials report summaries media alerts website content social media and fact sheets.
Help copyedit written materials produced by other team members according to EFIFs Style Guide to catch grammatical and punctuation errors and to ensure clarity accuracy and effective framing.
Assist in managing schedules for report publication and other projects.
Build relationships with congressional staffers and leverage existing connections.
Help create and maintain databases for strategic contacts and content distribution to energy stakeholders and influencers reporters and U.S. policymakers and their staff.
Prepare and promote EFIF webinars including sending out invitations amplifying on social media and tracking RSVPs learnings lead the run of show and serve as MC when needed.
Support the communications and research team in and planning of private events (roundtables workshops etc.
Lead the identification and interview process for the Communications Internship/Fellowship and build lasting relationships with universities to ensure a steady flow of qualified candidates.
Contribute your expertise to overall strategic communications planning to ensure that EFIFs work reaches and resonates with target audiences (policymakers nonprofits energy industry stakeholders etc. and to increase the impact of EFIFs work.

What Youll Need
Bachelors Degree (in Communications or related)
47 years of experience of postgraduation professional experience in communications.
Excellent writing skills are crucial.
Experience working with research/technical teams to produce strategic communications content.
Copy editing skills and experience (AP Style correcting grammar and punctuation).
Strategic communications mindset and experience (preferably including campaigns to energy stakeholders) and experience communicating to various audiences.
Experience with public and private event planning social media email marketing tools (Constant Contact or MailChimp) and CRM tools (Hubspot or Salesforce).
Highly preferred: Previous work experience in a Congressional office and/or background in clean energy specifically within energy communications.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
