Multi Disciplinary Senior Practitioner Specialist Mental Health Team North Duty

Grade

Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working full time 36.5 hours per week

Birmingham City Council Adults Directorate is delighted to share with you an exciting opportunity for a Multi Disciplinary Senior Practitioner to join Birmingham City Councils Adult Specialist Mental Health Team on a permanent basis.

You will provide direct line management of a cluster of qualified Social Workers on duty including those currently undertaking the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). You will provide managerial guidance and supervision and ensure management oversight of caseloads of citizens on duty with complex mental health diagnoses including those currently detained under The Mental Health Act 1983.

You will aim to deliver improved outcomes within a high support and high challenge environment enabling the workforce to own and drive their own performance and will be responsible for promoting adherence to relevant policies procedure and legislation. A sound knowledge of relevant legislation such as The Mental Health Act 1983 (including Section 117 aftercare) The Care Act 2014 (including Adult Safeguarding) and The Mental Capacity Act 2005 is therefore essential to this post.

You will also take part in chairing cluster and team meetings be expected to manage and respond to complaints and be responsible for the effective management of the duty system.

As desirable we are additionally looking for candidates with experience of risk assessing and prioritising cases for allocation.

Applicants should ideally (but not essentially) hold qualification as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) as the role may include management of AMHPs. Applicants should otherwise evidence their ability to support and guide qualified AMHPs in the undertaking of their legal duties under The Mental Health Act 1983.

You must be registered with the relevant regulatory body Social Work England to be eligible for this post.
