PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May include duties and responsibilities of the Clerk or Office Assistant as well as:
Scheduling ED Inpatient and Out patient exams via RIS system for all modalities.
Enters/edits and confirms all patient demographic and clinical data elements in RIS
Protocol CT and MRI exams through radiologists
Work closely with radiologists technologists and patient escort
Use Quick Base system to enter CT cases for Protocol
Assists With Training / Orienting New Staff
Confirms availability of exam rooms and keeps abreast of any schedule deviations and equipment downtime
Triage all requests for STAT studies
Follow the STAT protocol for scheduling
Edits cancels and reschedules exam requests; informs technologists patients and/or physicians of potential schedule changes.
Responds to telephone requests and processes telephone calls according to established telephone guidelines and hospital patient confidentiality policy
Act as an ambassador to patients visitors and Hospital personnel observing Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures
Oversees patient escort and the patient workflow
Provide cross coverage to OR:
- Answer all calls to the OR workroom
- Oversee the technologist workflow throughout all the OR areas
- Coordinate and communicate workflow between the OR staff and the staff technologists
- Perform all clerical duties and provide support to staff technologist
- Coordinate the workflow for staff between the Legacy and Lunder ORs and associated PACUs
- Contact Radiologists for Wet Read requests
- Initiate Support Tickets and EquipmentService calls for the staff technologists and communicate this to management
Maintains a neat physical environment and appearance
Performs all other duties that are practice specific and are appropriate to this level of position
Provides Excellent Customer Service to Internal and External Customers
Displays courteous Telephone Interactions with Patients
Follows HIPAA Guidelines for the Management of Patient Privacy and Confidentiality
May handle inventory maintenance and the ordering of supplies

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Basic computer skills necessary to use computerized scheduling
Good grammar and spelling
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of internal and/or external customers
Good organizational skills required to handle multiple tasks in busy environment
Medical terminology
Ability to problem solves and adapt to flexible work hours in a variety of divisions
Ability to maintain customer service standards and work with minimal supervision
