Job Description

Lunder 10 is an integrated thirtytwo bed inpatient hematology oncology bone marrow transplant unit that serves a young adult to elderly patient population. Patients are frequently followed from time of diagnosis or referral through end of life. The majority of patients have a diagnosis of leukemia nonHodgkins lymphoma sarcoma or multiple myeloma. Patients admitted to this unit require complex care focusing on multimodality treatment that includes highdose combination chemotherapy radiation biotherapy and bone marrow/peripheral stem cell transplants comprising both autologous and related allogeneic including mixed chimerism. The goal of patient care spans a continuum that extends from a curative to supportive/palliative care focus. Complexity of care includes management and treatment of side effects and complications of treatment administration of blood products pain management patient/family education and emotional/spiritual support. The most common nursing diagnoses include risk for side effects related to intensive/high dose chemotherapy risk for injury related to severe immunosuppression pain and knowledge deficit related to new diagnosis and/or treatment.

The Patient Care Associate (PCA)will work under the direction of a registered nurse to assist multidisciplinary healthcare teams in delivering safe compassionate patient care. You will perform a variety of clinical support functions including monitoring vital signs EKGs and ADLs and executing blood draws. Our Patient Care Associate team prides themselves in responding to patient requests in a timely manner safeguarding patient confidentiality monitoring patient safety and always communicating in a respectful manner.


Shifts: evening and day/evening

  • Current CNA certificate for Massachusetts and previous experience preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients staff and providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and transport patients using the appropriate physical technique in a safe manner for the patient and self.
