Explore our benefits further here: School of Medicines largest department Internal Medicine (i.e. Department of Internal MedicineDoIM) is recruiting a Research Program Coordinator to provide research operational support for thedepartments 11 Divisions. The DoIM oversees over $100 million in sponsored research across 224 activeprojects and currently has $117 million in sponsored proposals with a 29 average success rate.

The DoIM is seeking a midlevel candidate to serve as the intradepartmental resource to the 11 Divisions liaison to the Office of Sponsored Projects and the School of Medicine ResearchAdministrative team. Reporting to the Clinical Research Operations Manager the Research ProgramCoordinator for Internal Medicine will be responsible for the strategic management planning policyformation and implementation of programs and/or services to ensure daily and longterm objectivesare met. The incumbent will work in collaboration with departmental and divisional leadership todevelop strategic operations policies and procedures for the research operations.

Core Responsibilities:
Identify and disseminate information about funding opportunities and work with investigators to
match expertise with potential sponsors
Serve as the key point of contact for the School of Medicine Research Administrative team in
adherence to agreedto compliance efforts for submission deadlines etc. and administrative aspects
Partners with the Sr. Administrator and Clinical Research Operations Manager in the oversight of:
Study feasibility (i.e. Start/stop timelines and projections bridge funding financial implications
enrollment renewals etc.
Compliance oversight (i.e. Effort reporting no cost extensions subject matter expert for Q&A etc.
Department analytics and reports (i.e. Budget building table creation etc.
Provide research administrative leadership for the department by establishing best practices including
maintaining organized documentation records retention managing electronic research administration
functions and developing checklists and tools
Advise PIs when needed related to sponsored projects providing guidance on proposal development
and compliance requirements etc.
Collaborate with the Sponsored Programs Office (MTAs DUAs CDAs etc. Principal Investigators and
key university partners
Operate under limited supervision effectively managing the intradepartmental processes
independently
Provide guidance to less experienced Divisionallyappointed staff and contributes to projects and
initiatives
Contribute to process improvements development of standard operating procedures and
assessments to support research growth
Perform other duties as assigned (i.e. Partnership with fiscal administrators etc.
Minimum Hiring Standards:
Bachelors degree plus a minimum of 5 years of professional experience or equivalent combination of
education training and experience.
Extensive knowledge of financial operations and administrative policies and procedures
Exceptional decisionmaking skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and problemsolving skills
Ability to design manage and implement programs
Experience serving as a leader by building leading motivating and assessing teams
Experience in holding employees accountable for individual results and drive overall effectiveness of
team
Demonstrate ability to plan and direct the implementation and modification of technological
components of multiple functional areas
Demonstrate ability to collect analyze and interpret information
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree
5 years relevant professional experience
