This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting certified eligible list may be used to staff several current and future vacancies for this position/function only.

POSITION DUTIES

The Comptroller of Maryland located in beautiful down town Annapolis is currently seeking to hire a supervisor for our Adjustment Unit in the Taxpayer Accounting Section. This is a dynamic fastpaced highvolume position that requires someone with attention to detail and an ability to handle many tasks while managing deadlines. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills is able to adapt to change and able to motivate people to achieve a high level of accurate and efficient production.

This position will be tasked with supervising a team of professional employees who are responsible for amended tax returns. Such supervision includes the review of daily account work for accuracy and approval of higher dollar values assistance with tax law administrative policy and processing issues maintenance of attendance and leave records and any other missionrelated duties assigned by agency management.

This position is eligible for a hybrid office and telework schedule following the successful completion of a probationary or training period.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping or accounting.

Experience: Four years of experience performing work in tax assessments collections investigations examinations adjustments or taxpayer services within two or more of the specialized fields of revenue administration or performing work in tax assessments collections investigations examinations adjustments or taxpayer services within the motor fuel/motor carrier tax field. The specialized fields may include sales and use tax income tax admissions and amusement tax withholding tax alcohol and tobacco tax and any other revenue levy authorized by the legislature.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute the possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree with twelve credit hours in accounting or auditing from an accredited college or universityfor two years of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a noncommissioned officer in finance technician classification or finance technician specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician field of workon a yearforyear basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S. you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States please submit a detailed coursebycourse evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified athttp://naces/members/

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Federal and Maryland state taxes forms and regulations.
  • Excellent punctuality organization and communication skills.
  • Experience prioritizing and handling high work volumes.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
