Job Description

Contribute your expertise to amissiondriven academic medical environment by joining McLean Hospital. Longranked the nations top freestanding psychiatric hospital McLean offers anexciting opportunity to be part of a cohesive and dedicated 14persondevelopment team during the successful leadership phase of a comprehensivecampaign. Located on a beautiful 200acre campus minutes from downtown BostonMcLean is a preeminent research and teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School Massachusetts General Hospitaland Partners Healthcare.

Summary:

The Development Coordinator Major Gifts will play anintegral role in helping McLean Hospital meet its annual major gift fundraisinggoals during McLeans largest comprehensive campaign (now in thequiet/leadership phase). The developmentcoordinator will work closely with major gift professionals to draft donorcorrespondence including proposals coordinatedonor and program meetings manage donor and gift information generatereports and conduct prospect research. The development coordinator will also collaboratewith other members of the department on special projects as they arise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The development coordinator will have a wide range ofresponsibilities including the following:

  • Major Gifts: Provide direct daily support to the major gift team including
    • Supportingthe major gift officers in drafting donor correspondence acknowledgmentletters proposals and reports.
    • Preparingperformance management reports and reviewing with the major gift officers.
    • Scheduling and supporting donor and program meetings.
    • Conducting prospect research.
    • Producing agendas and briefing documents.
    • Making travel arrangements and managing expense reimbursement processes.
    • Documentingdonor activity in Raisers Edge including recording actions inputting dataand producing regular fundraising performance reports.
  • GiftProcessing: Record all incoming gifts; act as backup to the primary giftprocessor; and oversee monthend reconciliation of gifts.
  • Other tasks as assigned: Including preparing correspondenceacknowledgment letters reports and proposals; documenting processes; andparticipating in special events and campaign activities as needed.

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Two or more years of work experience development office experience preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and express ideas and thoughts effectively
  • Warm professional demeanor; positive and helpful attitude; strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to interact positively with a wide range of constituencies in person via telephone on email and in writing
  • Solid judgment and the ability to both selfinitiate and ask for guidance as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities follow through on projects and be proactive and solutionoriented
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • High level of integrity and demonstrated judgment
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud Raisers Edge (or similar relational database); fluent in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work as part of a small highly efficient team in a fastpaced and challenging atmosphere

Successful candidate must possess basic computer skills in order to use a variety of electronic systems to access and/or maintain personal employmentrelated data satisfy required annual trainings and use jobspecific applications.
