As a full stack engineer youll:
Contribute to the engineering of new features specialising in either Go (backend) or Frontend development based on your expertise;
Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to define and refine feature requirements;
Design and create automated tests at all levels of the testing pyramid;
Optimise code for performance and scalability ensuring our systems can handle the evergrowing volume of data;
Execute in an agile engineering environment in focused cross functional teams using agile methodologies and culture of continuous improvement;
Maintain code quality and drive improvements across Birdie collaborating to continuously improve our products and services;
Contribute to architectural decisions and system design;
Participate in code reviews providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Were looking for someone who:
Is passionate about writing clean concise welltested code and is a pragmatic problemsolver;
Has deep expertise in either Go (backend) or Frontend development;
Gets things done and is willing to step up take ownership and roll up their sleeves;
Has a keen product mindset understanding user needs and driving innovation to enhance the overall user experience;
Works efficiently in crossfunctional teams with high selfmotivation and accountability;
Follows best practices and understands the rationale behind them;
Is intensely curious loves learning and shares knowledge with others;
Is passionate about team efficiency collaboration and focus;
Approaches discussions with humility fostering a learning and supportive environment;
Understands the tradeoffs between different technical solutions and makes informed decisions;
Is comfortable working in a fastpaced evolving environment.
Have proficiency in React and related tech (Tanstack Query Redux) ;
Have proficiency with NodeJS and Typescript;
Have proficiency in Go (for the backend position);
Have knowledge of Relational databases;
Have knowledge of automated testing;
Have knowledge of common design patterns;
Are someone who is inspired by and seeks to embody our values;

Compensation
Our salary packages are competitive the role is 60k 75k. We also grant generous stock options to any permanent employee at the end of the probation period. We adjust salaries based on the cost of living index for employees based outside of the UK.
Location
This role will need to be based in the UK. We organise regular inperson events and online socials to make sure you can meet up with peers.
Birdie does not currently support any visa applications and therefore we do require permanent right to work in the UK.

We offer 33 days of holiday (inclusive of bank holidays) and close between Christmas and New Years outside of this. We also support you in celebrating the big moments all Birdies get an extra Birthday day off and can choose to take it at any point in the year.

Sabbaticals
We want Birdies to stick around for a while! After 4 years you can choose to take a sabbatical of up to 3 months.

Parental Leave
Highly favourable parental leave policy; once you have spent twelve consecutive months on our payroll primary caregivers are entitled to 26 weeks of parental leave at 100 of your usual salary and secondary caregivers are entitled to 12 weeks of parental leave at 100 of your usual salary.
Fertility Leave
Birdie recognises the emotional and physical challenges of fertility treatment and investigations and supports all Birdies by offering 5 additional paid days of leave.
Employer pension contribution
Birdie contributes 4 of your salary to your pension when you contribute 5 (UK Birdies)
