The University of Chicagos Department of Pediatrics Section of Neonatology is searching for fulltime senior faculty members. Appointees will provide coverage at the University of Chicago Comer Childrens Hospital NICU and contracted offsite locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students and scholarly activity. We especially welcome applicants with expertise and/or formal training in quality improvement ECMO outcomes research or analysis of structured EMR data. Opportunities for leadership may be available to appointees with appropriate skills and experience. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.
The Section of Neonatology is committed to excellence in education research patient care and community service. It has 15 fulltime faculty members and other academic staff who attend the 71bed unit in Comer Childrens Hospital and two community hospitals to provide compassionate evidencebased treatments in nurturing familycentered environments with stateoftheart equipment. In collaboration with the MaternalFetal Service the Section runs the University of Chicago Perinatal Network with more than 10 affiliated community hospitals. The Section has a fully accredited fellowship program with 10 trainees and a robust neonatal nurse practitioner program. Its faculty members are actively involved in research supported by federal and other extramural grants.
Prior to the start of employment qualified applicants must: 1 have a medical doctorate or equivalent 2 hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Illinois and Indiana 3 be Board certified or board eligible in NeonatalPerinatal Medicine and 4 have recent experience in intensive care of newborns.
Assessment of applications will consider experience administering/directing a level IV neonatal intensive care nursery in a large tertiary center.
