Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Special Education the School Psychologist plays a critical role in supporting students academic social and emotional wellbeing. They assess student needs collaborate with educators and parents and develop interventions to enhance learning and mental health. This role involves conducting psychological evaluations implementing behavioral interventions and providing counseling to students.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct psychological and educational assessments to evaluate student learning behavioral and emotional needs.
Interpret test results and provide recommendations for educational and behavioral interventions.
Collaborate with teachers administrators and parents to develop individualized education programs (IEPs).
Offer direct counseling services to students facing emotional social or behavioral challenges.
Develop and implement behavior management plans to support students in the classroom.
Provide crisis intervention and support for students dealing with trauma or other mental health concerns.
Assist in the development of schoolwide programs to promote positive mental health and safe learning environments.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and state regulations.
Stay updated on best practices in school psychology education laws and mental health trends.
Qualifications
Masters or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
State certification or licensure as a School Psychologist.
Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.
Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools special education laws and behavioral interventions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with students parents and staff.
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a teamoriented environment.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI) and MultiTiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Experience using datadriven decisionmaking to support student success.
Strong problemsolving and conflictresolution skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
