Caterpillar Inc. seeks Embedded Product Analytics Engineering Specialist at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Dr Chillicothe IL 61523. Design or CPPD team responsible for development of a product process or both. Develop solutions for complex technical engineering problems and may be accountable for the design or improvement of complex systems or processes or the development of applications that use product data. Demonstrate technical expertise and act as a team and/or project leader. Focus on technical delivery. Develop and perform on complex projects or programs. Direct work with other units suppliers customers and teams. Use skill in negotiation building consensus and achieving compromise. Impact of decisions may be farreaching to include the project team or immediate work group division and/or business unit suppliers internal and external customers and Caterpillar markets. Decisions may significantly impact warranty patents products or processes technology costs sales and customer perceptions. Strong communication spatial and conceptual design skills and an understanding of customers needs and product application are required. Keep up to date with technology and developing increased technical breadth and/or depth. Understand complex technical problems and demonstrate the ability to develop creative solutions. Technical leadership skills are essential. Project management skills maybe required. Design and promote new products and processes; contribute to establishing strategies for new process and product programs; develop and manage the project/program to the plan; perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products perform product maintenance; keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; communicate technology to customers team members suppliers and other units; and support and advise other engineers managers marketing personnel customers and suppliers. The Embedded Product Analytics Engineering Specialist develops algorithms and software designs to run on embedded controls (which are equipment mounted). These algorithms are developed and implemented in various programming languages (C C MATLAB Python) depending on the needs of the embedded controls and products. The software and algorithms developed are designed built and tested/validated using existing product data gathered from machines and engines as well as from standard engineering principles. Manage development continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of emerging technologies such as edge computing operating system level virtualization machine learning Internet of Things and online analytical processing. Develop increased technical breadth and/or depth at this level as well as gaining increased business management skills. REQS: The position requires a Masters degree in Mechanical Electrical or Computer Engineering Computer Science or Materials Science or related. Plus 4 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Software Engineering Computer Engineering or related occupation. Additionally the applicant must have employment experience with: 1 Gathering machine or engine data using data collection equipment and the Vector XCP and CCP protocols; 2 Machine datalink protocols including SAE J1939; 3 Developing predictive models using MATLAB/Simulink; 4 Process controls and methods to determine when processes/systems go out of control (outliers trending etc.; 5 Installation and monitoring prototype equipment on construction or mining machines for extended field validation; 6 Development of AUTOSAR compliant embedded machine software; 7 Functional Safety compliant software development; 8 Software version control using GIT; 9 Development of software requirements and software project planning and estimating based on requirements; 10 Performing and participating in Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) design reviews; and 11 Using Python for data analysis and management.
Summary Pay Range:
$ 126589.00 $189000.00
