Head Stretcher-Night Shift

Job Summary: Operates hydraulic stretcher/clamp to straighten and stretch extrusion to inhouse standards. This is a night shift position from 7pm7am. 3 days on/4 days off; 4 days on/3 days off.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for stretching a good product watching for dents bends scratches die lines and other defects. Report all problems/defects to the Shift Foreman or Lead Person.
• Use blocks and gauges when needed.
• Regularly checks all equipment and make sure it is being maintained in good safe working order. Informs Foreman or Lead Person immediately of any problems or potential problem.
• Responsible for keeping metal spaced on the cooling table properly and keeping the stretcher table full for the saw crew.
• Roll logs to storage/staging area and paint them as required.
• Assists the saw crews to maintain production.
• Get empty baskets staged and ready for saw operation.
• Keeps all material and tools out of walkways.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area and assist with general housekeeping of the press department.
• Follow company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and or one or more years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement volume and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to function independently in a fastpaced environment or in a team environment and possess good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to follow instructions

Physical Demands

• The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

• The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme heat.
