Manages COMMERICAL BINDING P&C Commercial Lines Underwriting Department in a particular territory; planning and monitoring the timely and accurate completion of their responsibilities. Monitors the acceptability and profitability of the business produced by the agencies assigned to the departments underwriters taking corrective actions when necessary. Provides technical underwriting direction and assistance to the employees regarding complex functions. Assures that the departments functions are performed within established underwriting guidelines and standards. Conducts employee performance reviews in a timely manner. Coaches mentors COMMERICAL BINDING P&C employees.Job Responsibilities:Manage and develop COMMERICALBINDING P&C Underwriting staff.Manage new business pricingincluding development of underwriting guidelines and quote procedures.Provide reports to senior management including production and profitability reports by product line and ad hoc reports as needed.Assist senior management withspecial projects including product development and inquiries forexisting lines of business.Assist sales force to write profitable new business through providing product educationcommunication of underwriting and pricing guidelines explaining rationale for underwriting and pricing guidelines responding to appeals and making exceptions when warranted.Responding to inquiries and assisting other operational areas.Assist in budget development and manage COMMERICAL BINDING P&C Department expenses within budget. Works directly with sales force to help identify revenue volume opportunities and productpromotion to agents. Monitors communicates and evaluates volume goals and performance of each underwriter to obtain or exceed established goals for each business unit.Conduct periodic underwriting audits of new business quotations and binders completed by underwritingstaff.Research competition to ensure that products are positioned and priced appropriately to be competitivein the marketplace.Monitor changes in administrative procedures to determine impact upon pricing of products.Other duties and/or projects as assigned.Education and Work Experience:Bachelors Degree or any combination of experience and education that provides the skill to successfully perform in the position.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities: J&J Commercial Line Underwriting experience. Must have Strong technical background with specific knowledge of E&S underwriting and financial analysis. Must have strong interpersonal skills Must have project management skills Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical topics with nontechnical audiences. Must be a selfstarter with ability to independently set department direction and goals. Must have strong analytical skills.
