Job Description

REPORTS TO: Dean of Academic Affairs

SCHEDULE: 40 hours a week. Will include working approximately 1012 Saturdays a year to accommodate offcampus standardized testing administrations. Extended hours will be required during the AP exam administration in May. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position Purpose

The Accommodations and Testing Support Coordinator oversees two main areas of academic life at the Academy:

  • The management of requests for accommodations review of neuropsychological evaluations (with support from the medical director) design of accommodation plans appropriate for Harkness classrooms and communication of plans with families teachers advisers and students.
  • The planning coordination and implementation of all standardized testing endeavors at the Academy while serving as the point person for any matters related to standardized

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinates neuropsychological testing requests in coordination with the Dean of Academic Affairs Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Medical Director and General Counsel.
  • Coordinates support and resources for students with the learning specialist.
  • Review neuropsychological evaluations with support from the Medical Director or CAPS as needed.
  • Design accommodation plans that would be appropriate to employ in Harkness classrooms.
  • Communicate appropriate accommodations to students families and teachers.
  • Review accommodations plans periodically with students and support students in selfadvocacy. Coordinates support and resources for students with the learning specialist.
  • Assist in developing policies on classroom accommodations and what students can and cannot expect to use.
  • Develop the schools standardized testing schedule and guidelines in collaboration with administrators.
  • Oversee logistics for on and offcampus administrations of the PSAT SAT ACT and AP exams including scheduling registration securing materials arranging accommodations and ensuring a safe environment.
  • Create and distribute testingrelated communications to students parents faculty and staff.
  • Stay current with standardized testing best practices and ensure timely dissemination of testing information.
  • Manage standardized testing fee waivers.
  • Offer direct support to students parents faculty and staff regarding standardized testing and accommodations including support for students seeking accommodations via the SSD application.
  • Coordinate administration of approved testing accommodations both on and offcampus.
  • Oversee schoolsponsored test preparation services including vendor selection student access and periodic program assessment.
  • Recruit train and manage exam proctors.
  • Source national test score data and provide program summaries for annual departmental reporting.
  • Import and manage standardized test scores in database systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Competencies

  • Must be able to read and understand a neuropsychological evaluation and develop strategies consistent with the evaluation.
  • Ability to administer reading assessments.
  • Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act as it is applied in the educational setting.
  • Familiarity with standardized testing practices and exam administration policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships with students parents faculty and staff.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask with efficiency and accuracy under shortterm constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Adherence to published safety and security policies with an ongoing commitment to student confidentiality privacy and data integrity.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times including in stressful situations.

Position Requirements

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Counseling Special Education or related field.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Experience

  • 35 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in a secondary or postsecondary institution.
  • Experience understanding laws and eligibility of section 504
  • Experience managing students with section 504
  • Experience creating 504 plans

Additional Requirements

  1. Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years.
  2. Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
